Back when I first started doing music journalism and promotions back in 2005, one of the first bands I ever worked with was Rookie Of The Year! I recently got in touch with Ryan Dunson, the main man behind it all, and got some of the dirt on what he's been up to! Rookie Of The Year recently just went on tour with Mae(one of my favorite bands of all time) in the UK and will be hitting the road again for the "Along for the Ride Tour". ROTY just released a new CD called "Along For The Ride" which I know you will have on repeat! As you can see ROTY has been around forever and doesnt plan to stop anytime soon so I highly suggest you go check them out :)
I also got the OK to post the new video "Dallas" on here which I LOOOVE as well as the tour poster so be sure to check it out for a date near you!
Brittany Hagerty:What is your favorite instrument to play?
Ryan Dunson: Guitar or piano... prob.. about even on that one! Does voice count at a instrument?
BH: If you could bring back any musician who has passed away for a day, who would it be and what would you two do?
RD: My grandfather could play a mean Harmonica, I would love to hangout with him one day and just his presence would make me smile for a full day.
BH: Describe your dream tour (bands, bus, etc)
RD: U2, Copeland, M83 and Azure Ray and I would just open so I could watch all the bands after I played! haha
BH: What is the best advice you can give to someone about the music industry?
RD: Make sure you really want to spend alot of time of ups and downs.. but at the end of the day make sure you have love for music.. otherwise youll just be discouraged.
